We started the day having breakfast with Bill, an American
who now lives in Colorado, but grew up in St. Louis. Bill is a former French teacher & ski patroller, who loves cycling. We had lots in common…what a small world.
Our last full in the Pyrenees so we drove around exploring
two mountain passes that we had never visited before and two that we know
well.
" I just got have more cowbell!"
Village of Payolle
The Pic de Midi as viewing between two cows at the Col d'Aspin
A hang glider take off strip at Pyragudes.
The last km up to Pyragudes, the summit finish for Stage 12.
A group of Italian cyclists relishing their climb up the Porte de Bales
Tartiflette in Luchon
We had lunch in Luchon, a thermal springs/ski resort close to Arreau that is a frequent stop on the Tour. Creatures of habit we returned to a restaurant where we had dined before and ordered the same dish, tartfiflette. It was delicious, must better than the version I made this past winter.
Our last dinner at our hotel was another good one, and I’ve included lots of photos for Rosemary!
A bottle of red
chilled avocado & shrimp
Our first dinner outside at Hotel d'Angleterre
Raspberry Tarte & Sherbert
An after dinner walk into the center of Arreau, overlooking the River Neste
Looks like a story book ...Nat
